Can 100% clear silicone be used?

Tomorrow I plan to seal up my overflows (freshwater tank) b/c I'm tired of fish and food getting back there and not being able to get out. I know they make aquarium silicone, but I wanted to know if 100% clear silicone is toxic? I'm not using it to seal glass, just cover up the holes in my overflows.

It depends on which one, there are a couple that can, but most have mildew retardents that will harm your fish. If you are just using a small ammount it might be best to bite the bullet and get the real thing. HD carries a tube that says "safe for aquarim use", it's only a few bucks.
