Question

betta issue

hey everyone Im here on behalf of my friends beta. what happened was she had set up a 10 gallon freshwater tank, cycled it and then added 3 fish, a beta and 2 mollies. well shes been noticing the betta chasing one of the mollies around. at first i asked her if it was chasing it fro a certain spot she said that it was mostly chasing it from a cetain spot but sometimes the betta would just chase for no reason is there a reason for this or is it just because they arent used to eachother yet please help thanks

ok first off is it a female or a male? 1)If it's a male then it can not be with other fish AT ALL . male bettas have another name /Siamese Fighting Fish. they are born to fight I keep mine in a gallon bowl by himself with a decoration and feed him (also freeze dried bloodworms they love that). He is about 5 years old now and doing great. 2) If it is a female then it still may or may not do well in a tropical/community fishtank. most likely it will be fine if it's a ten gallon or bigger (which it is) but she needs to be added last. Best chance she won't attack. Still, i recommend that bettas (male and female) be kept in a container/aquarium by themselves. Usually while breeding the females can be kept together in a big aquarium until they are sold and they are that way in some pet stores too. So if it's a male betta that's why it's attacking and needs his own home. Hope this helps and i wasn't too confusing
