Are 50/50 reef bulbs O.K. for freshwater?

I just changed my JBJ 12g from salt to fresh water. Are 50/50 reef bulbs O.K. for freshwater?...Thanks...Anthony

i am using 2 48" 50/50 on my 120 gal rr fresh tank and have yet to have a problem iv had the tank up for more than 2 1/2 months its still new

yes 50/50 will not cause a problen in a fw tank. Dont forget to replace them every 6 to 9 months because they do swing in color and this in fw will cause algae as well as in sw.



Great lookin angels btw. Why not put live plants in there instead of plastic?

well the main reason i dont have live plants is i havent had them live for more than a month and never had them grow i would really like to get some live plants but i dont know why they were dieing on me in my other tanks a 30gal and a 20gal i think it might have been that i didnt have enugh light b/c they were under some cheep lights i know in my 120gal they would have enough light but im not shure if they need co2 injection or stuff like that


in my 120 gal i have
4 angles
4 pearl gouramis
2 male dwarf gouramis
2 female dwarf gouramis
5 red eye tetra
5 black tetra
2 sharks dont know what kind

Alot of times the ph effects the growth of plants and also whats available for food for them. Whats the ph of your tank?
