Anyone into planted tanks as well???

Just curious if anyone else was into planted tanks as well as reefs... My 125 used to be a planted tank, but I have since changed it over to a reef to house my critters while I re-build my 450. Then a 212 will replace the 125... At anyrate I was sitting around today kind of wishing I still had this tank set up. I have since moved the planted tank critters into a 55 that sits in our bedroom...

That's incredible!!! Nice, nice tank! I could never get glosso or any ground cover to flourish. I did have some hair grass that started to take off, but the hygo just grew over the top of it and killed it... I had to trim that hygo back every three days as it would grow so fast

I have a 55g planted tank. I love em. Great job on the glosso. I had hairgrass growing till my African Red Barbs decided it was lunch.

I have a 55 and a 37 that I plan to turn into planted tanks. I pieces of wood for them soaking as we speak. Those pictures look awesome though. Have you ever thought about submitting your tank to this: http://showcase.aquatic-gardeners.org/2006.cgi ?

I do planted tanks 2. Myne is NO WHERE as nice as that one! I like it becuse they help keep my water clean. Also gives a nice spot for my critters to hide.

Sure. I'll play I've got a few tanks. One is just a plain old betta tank(10 in halves) with hornwort and duckweed. Nothing special looking at all. One is another betta tank in halves with basically the same. One is a 20 gallon "project" tetra tank, which I am determined to make look nice and the last is a 60 gallon tank that is just kinda there My camera decided to take cruddy pics tonight, but here they are:

The 20 has a school of von rio tetras in it. They're interesting. They like to stay away from each other and chase each other around a lot. There are also 2 baby swords who I rescued from petco(before I got my tetras) and a few ghost shrimp. For the plants I've got a piece of wood with the moss growing like a weed on it, some anubias for foreground, some hairgrass and a single chain sword plantlet(seeing which will grow faster in there) a few corkscrew vals in each corner, a lot of rotala rotundifolia, some alanthera reinecki, a few stems of red ludwigia a few different colour crypt wendtiis, a couplle of marimo balls, and a single water sprite. In the top left you can see the roots of a pothos I'm growing emersed and in the top right is some mint charlie that'll be taken out once I set up a paludarium.

That's the big one. Meh, s'ok I guess.

The first pic is my new 50gal unfinished castle, planning a slate wall and other oddities for a predominantly moss tank.

Second pic is my 20 gal inwall, only 6 inches thick so its a kind of cross section layout. Co2 and fertilizer schedule, ammano's, crystal reds and tetra's.Steve
