Question

Tunze Power Heads

I would like to replace my existing Maxi-Jet 1200 power head (using in a 46 gal reef tank) with a power head that will discipate less heat. How are the Tunze power heads for heat disciption ... better than the Maxi Jet or about the same?

Keep in mind the powerheads are bigger than a maxi jet and generate much more flow. For that size tank I would get a 7300/2 which uses 25w of power- basically the same as a Maxi Jet 1200, it pumps 2.5 times as much though- 792gph. It will produce about the same amount of heat as one maxi jet but the difference will be one pump can easily replace 3 of the others.
