Ot: Deer Hunting

DO any of you hunt? I might go this year, but have no idea where any public land is. I have a rifle and a shotgun, so I can go pretty much wherever. ANyone have any places to go within an hour and a half drive of New Richmond?

I hunt, but nowhere near the New Richmond area. You should be able to find some areas on the Wi DNR website. Try this link http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/org/land/wildlife/reclands/

It might give you an idea of places to check into, although it probably won't help with finding out how the hunting is in those areas.

Hi, have you tried the Cumberland/ Rice Lake area? My husband and son are out hunting now...won't be back until after Thanksgiving. A lot of private land, but all you have to do is ask...and a lot of public too. The DNR sight should have that. Good luck.

I have some relatives that hunted in the Cumberland/Rice Lake area up until a few years ago. They have gotten some nice deer out of the area. I grew up in Eau Claire and go back up there very often. Up until a few years ago, I'd spend several days every summer in Cumberland.
