Just moved

I know your club is for western WI. My wife and I just moved to Manitowoc and I am not to impressed witrh the LFS. Can anyone give me some suggestions for LFS in surrounding areas. I used to belong to the PNWMAS wich has a forum on this site. I would be willing to drive to get quality animals and find a good selection.

THanks,

JEremy

Your best bet to find someplace on that side of the state would probably be checking with either Wisconsin Reef Society (WRS) http://www.wisconsinreefsociety.org/WiReef/index.html based out of Millwaukee area or Madison Area Reef Society (M.A.R.S) at http://www.madisonreef.com/ There are a couple of decent LFS around Green Bay and really good stores in Milwaukee. WRS would be your best bet.

If you are interested I know a couple of reefkeepes in Oshkosh WI. They do not post here very often but they are around.

Also If you are interested in trading I get over to Oshkosh once a month or so.

Talking to my reef keeping friends in Oshkosh it sounds like to get great corals they head up to Green Bay or down to Milwaukee. I can try and get store names and address if you like.

Wi Fish Stores

Sorry it has taken me awhile to reply to this... I haven't been on the website in a long time .... my bad.

Anyways, here are some decent stores in the area (well, I consider Milwaukee in the area since there is jack squat in regards to fish/coral stores in Oshkosh)

Milwaukee:

Aqua Exhibits
1335 N Martin Luther King Drive
414.224.0486
www.aquaexhibits.net

Fish Factory
9218 W. Oklahoma Ave
414.546.2201

Five Star Fish
5300 N Port Washington Rd
414.967.0134

Seven Seas Aquatic
215 W Florida St
414.272.7966

Marine land Pets
3519 Villard Ave
414.527.2511
www.marinelandpets.com

Hoffer's Tropic life pets
7323 W 76th
414.353.6553

GREEN BAY:

Aquatic Imports
314 N Clay Street
920.432.3842

APPLETON:

Ultimate Aquatic
1222 S Oneida Street
920.733.9194

OSHKOSH:

AQAURIUM PETS
702 Knapp St
920.230.6500

OK... the shop in Appleton is where I get my salt from. they are fairly cheap with those kind of supplies though I would never by any livestock from them (you will see what I mean if you go there) They are a Mom and Pop shop (quite literally) an older couple who are both there everytime I go... but they are very nice, and have awesome prices on supplies in general.

The shop in Green Bay is actually in a house. But don't be deceived, he probably has the healtiest fish and corals around. The prices aren't the cheapest, but he doesn't totally rip you off like many of the stores down in Milwaukee. Plus, as mentioned before... everything I have purchased from him has been pretty hardy.

Now, the shops in Milwaukee are all fairly decent... though a few are hit or miss depending on when you show up. If you make a run down there, I would suggest you make a day trip out if it and hit a bunch of them. The biggy down there is Hoffers. They are high priced but they sell just about anything from gators to jellyfish. If you like animals in general you gotta stop in that store if you go down there.

In the little town of Oshkosh there is really only one decent store and that is aquarium pets. Its a pretty small store, but he will special order for you. They really don't have any corals here though... but a decent fish selection.

Hope this helps... let me know if you have any ???'s

Oh... I forgot to mention if you want to trade some frags let me know. I have a small (29) reef tank and a friend of mine (Jeremy) here in town has a monster tank and a couple smaller ones (220, 90, 40, 40)

small chucks of frogspawn are free for the taking!

Unfortunatly for you my best friend (Mjsandbe AKA Michael) lives in MN.... his tanks are actually much more impressive than mine or Jeremys. Plus he loves to trade as well.

Well, just let me know if you're interested.

Thanks for all the store listings. After living in Oregon I got used to driving at least 30min to an hour to find a good LFS. I still need to get my tank going need a few things to finish it (build sump, lights, sand, Live Rock) so it will be a while before I am ready to trade. I did a print screen so I can remember you guys. I will be in Appleton Sunday and Green Bay next weekend so I will do my usual pet shop tour. We do have Family in MN so we are there often depending on where your friend lives.

Thanks

Jeremy

I just found out that the Ma and Pop store in Appleton (ultimate aquatics) has temporarily closed. I guess the couple are having health problems.

Anyways, the friend of mine in MN (Mjsandbe) lives outside of Rochester....
