Okay in the heast of the day my tank temp. rise is up too 85 -90 . I,ve tried opening the lid ,turning of the light , and the heater the power head the only thing I have left on is the power filter and I pulled off the cover on it ? The tank is not in the sun at anytime. would a trickle fillter help on this it addsmore water and circalation to the tank?
Thanks for reply.

if you can put a fan in the hood. if not then get a fan and have it blow along at the tank. a wet/dry would lower the temp. even more so if you have a fan blowing on it. now what i am saying is make the wet/dry a sump, do not use the bioballs that are in the wet/dry. all of the extra water moving and falling will give the water a better chance to heat dissapate. adding a sump could be expensive with the overflow, sump, and return pump.

i would try the fans first. i think that will help. what is the temp. in the room itself?

Are you sure the heater is not stuck on? 85-90 sounds real high considering you don't have many electrical items in the tank to add heat. I would use fans as Geoff has suggested. Also using the house AC to keep the room cooler will help.

Byron, where is Noble and what kind of temps do you normally have, how warm is your house. I see nothing on the list that should drive the temp up that much. Are you using the glass covers on the tank. Those trap heat, are you sure of the temps, those digital temp strips often get whacky.
Personally I like the indoor /outdoor thermometer that Radio Shack sells for about $15 it shows room temp and water temp, the probe is sealed and ok in SW, Also WalMArt sells a similar unit for $9.97 FWIW
