New 180

My new 180 is on the way to being set up. Here are some stand and canopy pics. I am incorporating a Surge tank in the canopy also.

I like the tank. Everything looks very nicely done! About how much did it cost to build the stand and top, if you dont mine. I am thinking about building for for a 125 and it would be around the same price...

around 300.00 for the stand and canopy. The canopy is 15 inches high, the stand is 30. The surge syts inside the canopy to conceal it from view.

i REALLY like it..

why'd it cost you so much for the stand and canopy though? the one i jsut finished building, only ran me 200 and that was for the stand, canopy, cabinet, paint, caulk, polyeurathane, hardware etc...

the stand is 6'1" wide, 2' deep, and 3' tall
the canopy is 6'1" wide, 2' deep, and 12" tall
the cabinet is 2' wide, 2' deep, and 21" tall

i even used premium grade 2x4's and premium 3/4" plywood.

did you use a special wood other than standard construction stuff?

eitehr way, whatever you used, it looks fantastic. i really like the framing on the front and the way you put the doors together.

job well done!

I will use a liter meter for the top off anyway so no problems there. The stand is Birch and Pine. It cost me more because of that and a few tools and clamps I needed to do it. THe surge tank is something I have wanted to do for a while. Think of this: 8 Gallons rushing in through a 2 inch elbow every 45 seconds carrening off the rocks and running into 2 returns from a mag 36 and 2 TUNZE 6060 stream pumps. Can you say table top tank. I plan on Lots of table tops near the surface. I have it set up for 5-400 watt MH 3-20K and 2-Iwasakis. I am going to use 2-30 gallon cubes for the sumps. One for my skimmer and one for a semi-cryptic zone. I am trying to figure oput a wat to incorporate a phyo reaction chamber also. I may just doe that as the top off with the liter meter.
