I am also looking for an overflow and that particular one is what was recommended....
If you end up buying that one...
Premium Aquatics has that model for $87.00 vs $149....they also have the other models....

i have always been told NOT to buy that type.. that they can lose their siphon in a power outage and not restart, thus resulting in an overflow

i've heard, and since i use one, believe, that the u tube type overflows are much better.

premium has them for only 49 and up depending on tank size. http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merch...egory_Code=MLA

Jay:
that issue was mentioned also and Premium has an aqua lift vacuum pump to attach to the overflow to remove air and restart the siphon in a power outage.....Sandmandan (they guy I bought my tank from) says he has used one for the last year or so and that combination has started every time he has a power outage. Road construction near his home caused power outages almost daily for a long time and the system restarted each time without fail...vacuum pump is $14.00

thanx for the infor on the other overflows....I will look into them also...I really didn't want to spend $100 + for an overflow, so if I can find a better price or good plans to build one, that's the way I' rather go...

thanx for the info...

Jay....did you say you use one of the "u-tube" type overflows...?
have you had any issues with it? what size pump do you use for the return, etc....that looks like a nice box...
TIA

yep, i use a u tube overflow, and i installed a stockman overflow in it. i have not had a single problem with it at all.

i powerdown my pump everytime i feed the tank and i plug it back in and everything jsut works. i dont even worry about it anymore.

here is mine before and after the stockman pipe.
