Attached is a diagram of my intended modifications to this tank. There are a few things not in this diagram that I'm planning on. I didn't want to clutter the drawing too much.
1. Adding another power head/pump to increase circulation. Exhaust will be up near the top of the tank so as to create a current that will reach the other end of the tank. Eductor perhaps help here?
2. Lighting will be 2x250w Iwasaki 65k's with an additional 132w of PC's over the 5' long main display tank.
3. Refuge lighting will be 55 perhaps 110w of PC.
4.
Protein skimmer will be in the refugium area. Have not decided on what brand as yet. I have a prism, but it's too small for this system I believe.
5. GPH will be in the range of 2,000, 1700gph in closed loop, 300gph through refuge. 13x turn as it stands now.
6. Main tank will be 150g (60x24x24), refuge 30g (12x24x24).
7. This is a room divider tank so the long sides need to remain clear of equipment, pipes etc.
8. I've configured the refuge intake/return in this manner to allow for pod life to return to the tank with out having to be blenderized. Okay this way or should I reverse it?
Q: I have read that acrylic tanks have a more stable temperature, for better and for worse. In the past I've run a fan across the top of my 125 to cool it down with good results. Will this work here as well? This is huge, because if it won't I'll have to go back to having a sump so I can cool the water there. A chiller is not something I really want to mess with.
Will this configuration work or are there serious design flaws?
Thanks,
Phil
