Question

What do tiny baby cleaner shrimp eat?

I have a tiny baby cleaner shrimp in a breeder net in my tank. I want to attempt to keep it alive. I'm not expecting much, but what should i try to give it for food?
Its about half the size of a brine shrimp, but definately not a brine shrimp.

thanks for any ideas.

If you look close, you'll probably find more in the bottom of the tank around the rock work. They are mysid shrimp, not cleaner shrimp, and they feed on algae. Mine love to eat spirulina flake food.

pretty sure its not a mysid..... it didn't come from the bottom of my tank.... it happend to come in a shipment of cleaner shrimp i got today....exept for its size its shape is almost identical to the adults, the tail is slightly slimmer, but with a magnifying glass, all it lacks is size and color....

yes, i could be wrong...but it dosen't look like a mysid....

Say it is a baby cleaner shrimp...any ideas on what it might eat? baby brine shrimp? Finely ground flake food?

Most baby shrimp should eat standard sized flake food or brine shrimp.

If you have mysis, try scraping bits off for it. Otherwise, I'd let it fend for itself. There are a ton of goodies in your tank for it to find.

We got a tiny pepp once - he disappeared for a long time, but reappeared several weeks later a lot larger.

Good luck,
Danielle
