Unsticking an anemone's foot?
Ok so I am slowly reving myself up to rip out my DSB and replace it with the whole Starboard stuff. My problem is, my big green carpet anemone's foot has burrowed through the sand bed and stuck on a pretty large area of my bottom glass. So in order to put the Starboard in, I'd have to get him unstuck from that and remove him. Is there a safe way to go about doing this? I thought a credit card might work, not overly sharp so it won't cut him, but thin enough to get under him and pry him up.

You know I've heard of people removing them with some success, but have never seen it done with out harm to the anenome. Some folks say touching the foot with a cold spoon will do the trick. I have never seen it done, so who am I to criticize. Even when they are on the glass (which is the easiest place to remove them from) I still believe that some damage is done. It may not be evident, and I may be wrong, but that's my .02.

After you expose the foot, point a powerhead (of whatever strength you deem necessary) at it and wait for it to get uncomfortable enough to release itself. That should do the trick.

I've never heard the cold spoon thing, but it sounds reasonable, since it is attached to the glass, maybe you can access that underside with a cold object on the outside of the tank, like an ice pack, or maybe you can't, good luck anyway.

I have done this a few times with a paper clip
Unravel a paper clip, slowly, slowly, slowly tickle a portion of the foot until it releases a little bit, then you can continue that or use a credit card to move around the base.... The small edge of the paperclip just gets you started then when you have enough loose you can move to bigger better tools.... Although, I would just leave him alone and remove as much as you can around him...

When I moved my 90 my Long Tent. Anem. was attached through the sand bed on the Glass. I chilled the glass from underneath using icecubes. It only took a few minuites for it to release. It has been living happily for months after the move.

I like the cold idea, that seems reasonable. Thanks!

What worked great for me is point a powerhead at them. They will move. Least intrusive way that I could find
