BTA's require a lot more light than that. see if you can move the anemone to just under the bulbs right up near the surface of the water. it is generally recommended to have MH's if you want to keep anemones, or at least 10w a gallon.

10 w/gal??
Beg to differ with you on that one, Geoff.
While I do concur that the 2 x 30 w is not intense enough, I've had them split and grow under 2 wpg, of compact fluorescent.
How long have you had the anemone? Any fish hosting in it? Are you feeding it meaty food? Any possible predators in the tank? (butterflies, etc...)

i did over exagerate a little.
2 wpg on what sized tank? where was the anemone places? 2 wpg is much less than i ever had luck with. what were you feeding it? which kind of BTA?
sorry, so many questions Jenn, just need to know where to look for research.

Everything was ok untill a couple of days ago. I guess i have done as much as i can at this point. How will i know when to remove it from the tank? As i am afraid it will contaminate etc. Do they stop moving completly?

Let's see...
One is in a 52 corner tank, about 1/3 of the way up - it's about 24" deep or maybe 28"... it's a deep tank. Lights are 2 x 65 W PC, 10K and Actinic. It's been there for 3 years, split once. Had a mean tomato in it for a while, got rid of her and exchanged for 2 small skunks. Customer does not target feed it, the clowns do. It has split once, but the daughter shrunk under the shade of the mother. Daughter has moved, but is tiny... we'll see what happens. Mother looks ready to split again.
Next we have one in a 40 g acrylic, 36L by about 22 deep (guessing), under 2 x 65 w again... we have removed 5 clones from this tank and the mother is ready to split again. Nitrate in this tank was horrible for a while but the anem handled it just fine.
Next we have a regular green BTA, F2 clone from yet another customer, got HUGE in Deb's 180, under 3 x175w mh, split. She also has a wild caught rose BTA that got huge and split too. She's had some nitrate issues too (pattern???) but has them under control - she likes to feed
There are more, too but those are the ones I can rattle off the top of my head.

normaly they will find a place to sit down and live(food is abundent and light to) like jenns 3 years same spot
its when they are wondering when you should get concerned and same with them not opening up. if it has turned its self inside out and has been that way for more then a day id say its safe to say he isnt going to make it.
if it has just not comeout then it could be something in the water chemical or not. do you have any other anem's like a sebay they are territorial and will seek and destroy new anems and secrete their sent witch will make the new commer unhappy and die off to.
if you can upgrade your lights that might help.
and what are your water prameters
no2, nh3, nh4, pH, dkH, temp, and salinity?
edit: how long has your tank been set up?
tank size?
and how much rock?
fish?
inverts?
sand?
filter?
skimmer?
and the best thing for anems is temp wise about 78 to 82 and a salinity of about 1.024 is it a white BTA or a colored one? if its white then it is prob bleached and will need alot of food untill it can make its alga and if it dosent then it will be in need of a constant supply of food
