What are you feeding it? What kind of lights do you have? Is it near any other corals?

The corals are not to close.. I mean they are there but not close..

Formula One is what it is being fed..

350W 10K lighting.. and 40W strip actinic..

ok..any pics of the damage?

Bubble Tip's can be finicky..actually all anemones can be fickle about their environment. Are all of the tentacles getting this black and white spotting? or only a few? All on one side of the anenome, or scattered about the whole critter? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to gather as much info as possible for everyone.

any nitrates? anemonies hate that! also, it should not be white. usually they'll turn white when they either don't get enough light or in my case when they decide to make their home directly, 6" under a 400MH light. it should be a nice greenish/tan color. they make a fist when they eat. i feed mine about once a week. never seen black. usually if they are not happy, they'll split. the tips typically have bubbles when fed recently but after a few days will start to lenghten and the bubbles will dissappear.

Its totally gorgeous... the thing is 99% tan brown color and probably extendeing close to 6 inches.

I do not run Halides.. simply cannot afford them...

Have Ballast (JBL)... Seems to have done the trick for a while now have not had a problem..

Just ona few tenticles.. very SMALL few.. they have this whiteish .. color to them at the tip.. them towards the base of those tenticles.. it almost looks black.. IT IS NOT but it looks like a very odd shade..

never seen the black. if the white gets more pronounced, it is probably bleaching and needs more light or will die a slow lingering death. i killed several before i realized that if i wanted anemonies, i would have to get MH. the good news is that once i got the MH, the color came back and now my one surviver has split into a pest of 4, greater than 6" across anemonies. yours must be somewhat ok though because they usually split when they hit 3-4" when they are unhappy with their surroundings. the mouth is thightly closed most of the time? if not, it is almost dead and ready to pollute your tank.

Nah this thing is healthy... Like only thing I see is 3 tenticles that are showing this literally three out of hundreds...

I just wish I knew what it was.. maybe the black is wrong way to describe.. more shrivelled then anything...

the rest of the anenome is like blooming like crazy... SO I can't see death as an option here..

Water is PERFECT..
Nitrates are a bit higher.. they are at 0 - 0.5

Ammonia is at 0
PH is 8.2
Salinty 1.023
Temp 79-80

Everything is pretty much clocked... I am hoping thatit is just dehydrated for an extended period or is hungry.. again...

I fed it today so I am not sure about the hunger..

But when you say slow death...

Did it overwhelm it ?

We are talking about 3 tenitcles maybe four... I can literally count them... the rest of it is flowing and beutiful color tan...

Thanks again for your input...
I will post a pic..
One sek..

i'll check it again when i get home tonight on a computer with good video but it looks to me what mine do often right after eating. a few of the tenticles will schrivel up and then after a while everything looks normal again. i did read somewhere that lots of anemonies die from overfeeding. i give my 6" anemonies about 1/2 CC of shrimp, scallop or blender mush once almost every week. sometimes i'll skip a week. wouldn't worry about a reading of .5 nitrates. your test kit probably has more error than that anyway.
