lighting for anemones

I first wanted to thank everyone for their help on my last post reguarding sponges etc. was wondering if anyone could help me with the lighting requirements for a 75 gallon tank. i would like to keep 1 or maybe 2 anemones (possibly a sebae and one quadracolor)i've read differing oppions and was wondering if anyone could shed some insight. ("i've got dreams to remember") thanks

Well, if all you're going to have is a couple amemonies, then all you should really need is enough light to see the inhabitants, and maybe a small halide to give light to the area that the anemonies stake out as their own.

If, however, that's just the starting point for something bigger, and it usually is, then consider goung first class first and not having to upgrade later. Upgrading just leads to more un-used equpment sitting arround, which in turn leads to more tanks, which leads to more upgrading. not to mention that you could have just spent a tad more up front and had what you really needed, if only you had known you would need it.

Is there a reason why you forsee only having a couple anemonies? Will you have live rock? Is this a fish only type setup? Trying to do a minimalist reef is kinda like trying to get the flu, but only get the fever, not the body ache, the runny nose, etc. Before you know it, there'll be a polyp rock, then a leather coral or 2, and then... < snaps back to the present >.

Well, good luck!

Jeff

I don't agree, if you plan on keeping clown hosting anemones you will need plenty of light.

Thumbs up

Good call on posting the archived thread, Rick. It covered the anemone issue from about every angle.

The really weird thing about this is that even after the board came back up Geedoug was still shown as a registered user with 1012 posts. At some point after that you are now shown as unregistered. Also it seems only to "attack" moderator and admins. I noticed that Horge is also unregistered.

BTW, If I lose my 300+ posts then I'm quitting <j/k>. I think one of them actually had some useful content http://www.thereeftank.com/ubb/biggrin.gif.

Hey! Something just occured to me. The board crashed only after Doug1 was mentioned in an earlier post in this thread. Maybe UBB thought he had escaped.

How did an anemone lighting question evolve to this?
