carpet anemone

I am thinking that a carpet anemone is too big for a 40BR, but I want to hear from people that know, instead of me just speculating

I have also read that they have quite the appetite for fish

if these are both true, then I'll have to find a different prospective home for my A. ocellaris

TIA

Yes, they do get huge. If they survive. A 40B prolly isn't big enough unless it's a really small one.

And yes, they eat fish.

Let me chime in on this one. I currently have a green carpet in a 20H, stupid newbe mistake as to the size, but i've kept him for almost a year and he isn't slowing down. I got him at about 6" across and now when he expands, he's close to 14 to 16" tip to tip. Beautiful specimen, I must say.

Now for the bad news. i have kept him well fed, but I'm down 2 percs and 1 kole tang. I know the tang is way to small for a 20, but he was seriously only in for a week to clean up the last of some hair algae and he was back to the LFS. He went into the tank at about 1.5". Please no flames, it was the last resort.

With this said. I was going to move it into a 46bow with some clowns thinking that territory may had played into his habits.

Are you going to Dirks on Saturday? If you want him, let'sake up a deal at Dirks and you can pick him up on your way home.

well...I guess I will have to find a new choice for one, these are gorgeous, but my suspicions seem true...oh well...any other suggestions for an ocellaris in a 40B

I have a Seabae in a 30 for a little while. It took about 3 or 4 days and my ocellaris started to protect the Seabae. Then a day or 2 later it actually started to host in it. From what I have read so far is that they are hard to keep but mine has opened up much larger than he was at the store and has stayed that way since the day I got him. He did not open up until about 6 or 7 hours I got home... since then he has done great. At the store it looked to be about 4" across but opened up to about 6" or so. Anyone know how fast these puppies grow? Also how big can they get? And last do they spit out clones in captivity? (oh the color is white with a bright purplish/bluish tips) The tips also kind of flare up like the tips of a BTA. Is that normal? It looks like it is just a sign that it is well... but tell me if that is not the case because I can not find a ton of good info on the Seabaes. Also as far as placement he grabbed mostly onto some rock and only a little sand. Supposidly they prefer the sand but I know many people on reefcentral say that they had one do the same. I will jump down a post to add a pic. The pic quality is not great but it adds a visual.

Seabae and Clown

Here is one... I will maybe add another. The color between pics is vary different even though the whole time the lighting never changed. Not a great camera (video camera doing a still capture via vide editing software.)

The first pic is most accurate. The anenome is brilliant bright white, not a yellowish color.
