They like silver sides, like to be feed once a week. As long as you have adequate water flow, they'll find a place they'll like. Lights, halides would be nice, depends on the tank. What tank/lights do you have. They also like a mature, stable aquarium. Plus, if you find some ready available, give me a call! I had a green, couldn't find any clues, although they are beautys. Is that you bird, I love birds!

plenty of light, moderate to low flow, and fresh fish for it to eat. either the swimming kind that you buy and would have loved to keep or thawed silversides. these anemoneas are big time fish eaters. they will eat any fish that they can catch. this is a warning. i had one and it ate a couple of gobies and a tang. they can/will also eat clown fish.
i think they are one of the easier anemoneas to keep. this is probably due to the fact that it gets most of its nutrients through fish.

Austin,
Our LFS gets blue carpets all the time. They are always awesome looking one's from ice blue to deep blue. They are medium sized.
When layed out like a carpet, they are about 2 inches wider then a cd or dvd. The owner of the store hand picks all his corals and fish. He gets new stock every Wednesday, we just let him know what we are looking for. If you buy the coral from him in the bag, before he opens it and acclimates it, he takes $10 off of the price for saving him the time of doing so. He sells his carpets for $99 when acclimated and $89 when still in the bag.
Austin & Geoff,
Thanks alot for the information. My clown fish is one of my pride and joys....guess I should think twice.

This may be about the dumbest question, but, what is a silver side???
Also,
Austin, I have a 120 Gallon tank. It has one 400 watt halide and four 36 watt pc's. And yes that is my bird. Do you have any birds? What kind? My bird's name is Scooter, he is about 6 months old.
-Let me know if you are interested in a blue carpet, I'm sure I could possibly work something out for you.

Blue Carpets Get Very large
Blue Carpets get pretty large and are known to move around. They will eat anything and everything they get their hands on. I maintained a tank once that had a large Blue carpet in it. It was about 19 inches across.
They need high powered lighting (MH). Great water conditions and a mature tank for success.
The one I maintained was in a 150 reef and ate like a monster. It grew fast the guy said as he purchased it less than 10 inches 2 years before. Although it is hard to tell how much they grow as even a small one can expand very much. It did not eat a very large pair of Clarkii (4+inches) which hosted in it. It did eat hermits, tangs and the toadstool mushroom which rolled into it.
Good luck. They are beatiful....

Guys...watch out for your anemones...I had a BAD experience with one. I had an anemone for my clownfish, and it crawled into the overflow, it sucked itself into the overflow, and with the overflow clogged, the sump pumped into the tank, and kept pumping until the tank overflowed onto the floor....I hadn't calculated the volume of water in the sump compared to what the tank could hold! I only calculated if the sump would overflow if the pump stopped! Well, the water overflowed, and the improperly positioned power strip sizzled, burned, and filled my room up with smoke. Needless to say, I have an aversion to sumps right now. Luckily my dad came home for lunch that day, smelled the smoke, and unplugged everything before the house burned down. My dad was only able to get the anemone out of the overflow with a screwdriver...needless to say, the sebae wasn't doing so hot after that! Anyway, just a good little anecdote to remind you to place power strips away from your tanks with drip loops on the lines, and to watch your anemones....

silversides are frozen whole fish that you can usually get at a LFS. they are generally only about 4 inches long.

Larry, kool, that's my size tank! I had a parakeet for 8 years, died two weeks ago! I'm thinking about a senegal parrot or a quaker. I had a bad experience with a green carpet and a powerhead. So i'm gonna try with a something quadricolor. I've heard they are easier, so if i get all that worked out i might try again, thanks though!

That's one of the reasons I'm looking at this Level Controller Being that It has two sensors it will protect both the main tank & the sump!

Larry, did you and Alysha already buy the Carpet Anemone, or just thinking about it? Was just wondering. If you already have it, did your LFS give you any insight on it's habbits.

Yes Bill we bought it she had to have it. You know how your daughter is! No the LFS did not say much about it but it sounds like it might eat some of my fish. What do you think?

Larry... I feed mine fresh shrimp, it is also a Blue Carpet. I have it under about 400 watt of PC in a 75 gal and it keeps growing and growing... the only fish I've been able to keep are two orange skunk clowns. When it opens all the way it almost reaches the top of my tank and it sits in the sand bed. It resides in a low water flow area.
