anemone ID

I bought this a couple of weeks ago and was told that it was a bubble aneome. I would like some more info on it, if anyone can help. I would also like to say hi to everyone, this is such a great place for info. Keep up the great work.

Don't see anything that looks like an anemone. I see a seahorse and what looks like a branching hammer coral (Euphyllia parancora).

Oh, and Welcome to TRT.

Yes, I have three seahorses. Does the hammer coral need any special care? Thanks for the Id, I wasn't sure.

They both need special care. It is not a good idea to keep seahorses with stinging corals or anemones. Greg is right, you've got a branching hammer coral. The horse can be stung by it.

The coral needs good lighting and supplemental foods. The seahorse needs live food until they are weaned onto frozen food... mysis is best. Pretty specimen

I'd consider moving the coral... otherwise from the picture your tank looks pretty seahorse-friendly.

Welcome to TRT!

The male seahorses will eat the frozen mysis shrimp, the female only likes baby fry. I have also tried to feed them brine shrimp, new hatched and larger(no food value), but no interest. They do pick food from the rocks, and seem to be happy. The hammer coral doesn't seem to bother them, but I will move it to be safe. I also have a chocolate chip star, I've hear that they will kill fish etc.
Have you heard this? I will open a new link for the picture of the other seahorses.

I've not heard of chocolate chips eating LIVE fish, but they will clean up a dead one. Green brittle stars will eat your fish, they are pretty keen predators.

Keep offering the mysis. Took my female Brazillian 3 months to accept mysis, and even after she did, she would only take those that drifted under a rock so she could stalk and hunt them. The male would snatch them right out of the water column! Must be a "guy thing"

Live brine can be gut-loaded with Selcon/Zoecon or other vitamins, bubble them for 12 hours with whatever supplement you use, and feed them promptly to the seahorses. Just be careful as the water in the bubbler will foul quickly.

I'll look for the other pics
