Question

What's on my FoxFace?

Subject says it all. The fish is eating well (piggish, as usual) and doesn't show any outward signs of stress. However, what is this? How can I correct it? TIA!

Paul.

Could he have got stuck on a powerhead intake? I've seen that happen with Foxfaces before.

Could it otherwise be a coral sting?

Just some speculations....

Thanks Jenn.

I don't have any powerheads in my tank, so it can't be that (unless, the fish got stuck to the closed loop feed, in which case, I would imagine it would still be there).

You know, I do have a long spined urchin in my tank, maybe that's the culprit. Hmmmm.....

Any other ideas?

Thanks again!
Paul.

Looks like a small ulcer, and the darkening suggests a burn ---got any anemones in the tank? Fire coral maybe?

So long as the ulcer doesn't get any bigger, th fish will probably just heal it over.

Thanks dh. Yes, I do have an anemone in the tank. It's a rose BTA. I'll have to keep an eye on it for awhile. It looks as though it's healing up already.

It's doing much better tonight. Still there, but definitely on the mends. I'm willing to bet it got stung by something. I'm going to have to go through my kids' toys and make sure none of the GI Joe weaponry was put to bad use .

Hire an Aquaman action figure to keep an eye out for GI Joe

Glad the fish is doing well!
