Cool I think I will be using from now on. They seemed to respond to it very well!! I know that the stuff on the market " garlic Elixir" is very expensive!! So I will stick with my $3.00 jar of garlic and put the food in it over night to soak!!

Hello everyone

Derm, I use selcon on my food. I had a trigger that was developing some eye fungus stuff. I would soak my frozen foods for about 15 minutes or so then feed. The fungus went away in about a week. I have had other good results from the selcon also. I don't use the selcon all the time but when I see trouble I start. I also keep using it for about a week or so after seeing my problem go away.

Derm, I would be hesitant about using processed garlic as it may have preservatives in it. When I make mush, I just throw in 1-2 cloves and process away. The fish like(?) it, and I have seen no adverse effects.
I will try to find the report that I printed out, and I'll post where to find it. Just have to wait till I get home from hell....er... I mean work this eve.

Derm,

I used garlic over the winter to help defeat an ick outbreak. I added a few drops of Kyolic Liquid aged garlic extract with daily feedings to control and ultimately beat it in a hippo tang and perc clowns. It took 10-12 weeks, but I'd credit it with the win. Note that I was also working very hard to improve every other water quality parameter at the time, but I think the garlic was key.

Be careful just picking up any-old garlic capsules or extracts a lot of them have oils in them that will result in a sheen on the surface. That can greatly reduce oxygen transfer to your water in a big hurry.

The Kyolic Liquid I found at GNC and other health food stores. The other one that I found to work well with the food was the juice from a jar of minced garlic that you can get in the produce section at the grocery store.

i use the vita chem vitamins plus about once a week use the liquild garlic also. the fish seem to like both and havent had an ick problem yet (knock on wood)

people give there pets yeast tablets with garlic i have givent these to my cats also. they help prevent fleas n ticks and im sure the garlic given to the fish works that same way. the parasite takes a bite doesnt like the taste and leaves the animal

Right on I gave them Garlic again today. I soaked my shrimp in it. They ate it. After there was a smell of garlic in the tank, hehehe!! The smell is gone now though.

I use Garlic Gaurd and Celcon. I alternate days with them. All my livestock likes them both. Not to mention it helped fight off the nasty ich from my LFS. Besides, just 1 drop off the baster and my snowflake eel goes nuts. I would recommend an increased water change to get rid of the oils though.

Yes I did do a small water change today. I had to clean a little algae off some the rock so I used water from my tank put it into a smaller tank and then cleaned the rocks off then replaced the water with new water!!

I second the use of Koylic garlic from GNC. Been using it for two years with continued success. Hope you find the same. Best of luck.

Matt.
