Clownfish Cut/gash - pic attached
Hello,
This morning our female Percula Clown has a swollen cut on her side. Here is a pic of that area, with the cut circled in white. She was fine last night. Her behavior hasn't changed.
Any idea what I should do? I doubt I can catch her, and I'm thinking leaving her alone to heal by herself is probably best. ?
Thanks,
Shirley

Hey ShirleyM! I wonder what caused that!! My big female maroon clown had a large bruise/infection on it's side and eventually healed up so I would say watch it real close for the time being and see what develops!

So long as she seems OK, I would say just leave here, its prolly less stressful than trying to catch her, so she should heal faster if left alone.

Thanks, I think you're both correct. I wonder what happened to her? It's a little swollen, too.
She also laid eggs again on Weds and, as usual, is guarding them.

Hi Shirley,
I am still contemplating the clown egg idea. I would love to do it. as soon as I get some time off I am going to go into Inland and talk to them about setting up a rotifer culture. I am also trying to get ahold of Joyces book so that I can study up.
I hope that your fish is okay, keep us posted.

Hi Kevin,
She, typical female, decided to lay her eggs on the rock that supports the yellow polyps' rock!!!!! That's one of the rocks I could not get out to clean!! It holds a LOT of other rock up.
They will hatch next Thursday. Maybe she will lay the next batch on the polyps' rock...
Yes, I'd love to see you raise these guys up!

P.S. If we do this, I could arrange to meet you perhaps at I-465 and SR 37 South on my way to IU sometime...That should save you a lot of driving, right? OR, at the coral club meeting if timing is right.

Hi Shirley,
That sounds great. I want to do some reading first and definately want to set up a rotifer culture first so that I am prepared and would have the best chance at success. Hopefully the timing thing will work out when I am ready<G>.

OK. No problem. I can make a trip to IU just about any time...so long as Troy is there

Shirley,
That looks like a bite mark from the male.

Shame on him. They love each other. I suppose it will heal?
It looks a lot bigger than his mouth...maybe a ripping side-swipe?

Looks like several bites. He was probably trying to encourage her to "get a move on".
