Stommatella (sp)?

The other day there were posts about these guys. What are they? Are they good or bad? How big do they get? There is one on my back glass that is over 1 1/4 long.

Do I need to get him out while I can get to him?

Thanks, Chris

Stomatilla

Algae eaters. You want these. They are sometimes called cap snails as well if my memory (LOL) serves mr right.

Do a search on them you'll find something. I think the spelling I have up there is the right one

Stomatella Vari... ISPF sells them as "Sea Bunnies", they are a good snail not only for algae eating but they are a prolific breeder as well. Producing "planktonic" food for your system as well as more of the snails.

Stomatella's

Woohooooo!

Something good! Now all I have to do is make sure I get all of the little critters when I break down that tank and combine the two 135's int a 240 g.

I have an explosion of Limpets lately, and a bunch of tiny starfish on the glass and LR.

Thanks for the info guys!

Stomatellas are great!! They can really cruise too!! I got some about a 2 months ago at a meeting. They were kind of small and didn't know if my coral banded would find them for a snack or not. Got up to go to work today and WOW!! I counted about 20 all over my glass. I hadn't seen them since the day I put them in. What a nice surprise today!

Oh ya, those star fish you're seeing... are they about an 1/8th inch or so, uneven arms, not always 5 arms. Those will eat your corals. If that is what you're seeing, pluck them out when you do. predatory star fish Is this what you have? Hope this helps!

I started out with about 3 or 4 sea bunnies that smuggled in on my mushrooms now 4 months later there is easily over 100 in the tank. They are literally everywhere. Im going to start pulling them out soon.
