Starfish


Goodmorning everyone,
Saw a cute chocolatechip starfish
at the lfs yesterday,was wondering what starfish are reefsafe?
I really want one for my reef and would like a pretty colored one
any ideas? and pics? thanks Casey

Check out my avatar. That's a Fromia. They aren't very big, mine is about one and a half inches in diameter. They will stay out in the open most of the time.

I don't do anything special for it. He's on his on. They are very sensitive to changes in water parameters so a slow acclimation is critical. That goes for all stars.

Casey, can't answer for ALL stars out there, but I do know the following to be fact:

1. Linckias are reef-safe
2. Chocolate Chip starfish are NOT!

I love the chocolate chips too. They are gorgeous. But not for my reef!

I love my blue Linckia. It constantantly moves around the tank and doesnt disturb any of the corals.
