snail ID for newbie(sort of)

Hello people, Just in the last 2 weeks, I've noticed a bloom of little snails. probably harmless, but I can't get an ID on them...they are oval, and come up to a point in the centre. I call them circus-tent snails. (for lack of a better name) Just wondering what they are, and if the sudden bloom means anything. please help...... Monique

from the discription you gave, i say it was a limpet (tho it could be something else, gotta pic?). there are some limpets that are reef safe, and some that snack on corals. cellana sp. limpet is reef safe. but, if at the top of the shell has a hole, then you have "keyhole" limpet (diodora sp.), and they may snack on sps corals. the black limpet (scutus sp.) is not reef safe either.
