snail eggs

i have these snail eggs on the glass and was wondering who could be the culprit. i think they are either astrea or nassarius. they are in a tiny sac with about 7-9 little white dots in the sac. the sacs are spaced about an inch apart in as straight a line as any snail will go.

i first thought they were cerith snails but the eggs do not look the pics posted.

Thanks,

G~

no, not really. those look like trocus eggs to me, right? the ones i have are much smaller. maybe 1-1.5mm rugby ball shaped. i can try and get a pic but they are real small. they started showing up after i added the cerith, nassarius, astrea, and conchs.

thanks,

G~

The sac itself on mine is about 1 to 1.5mm. Off cause the eggs inside is a lot smaller This picture was taken just before the snail come out. This sac is about 3 weeks after it was laid. When they come out, they will put a small hole in the middle and escape.

then maybe they are not snail eggs then. after about a week the sacs are empty. they never seem to get a shape that is descernable.

thanks,

G~

Cerith's lay eggs directly on the glass, or rocks, in a zig-zag pattern. It looks like a white zipper.

mine came out as very small snail. At best about size of a grain of salt. BTW, local camera store has some plastic 35mm slide viewer for about $3.50. After I cut the tap off flat where the 35mm slide would normally be held, turn this thing into/as a loupe to see these small things on the glass.
