Actually I clicked the topic thinking you must be talking about my old hippo tang...

Those cukes do a good job, but it's true, they aren't the purtiest thing in the tank

hehe my yellow tangs poops like that, he does not seem to break up the algea very far, plenty of fiber for him The purple tang breaks up the algea to more like regular poop. I'm pretty sure the yellow tang is from hawaii, but not sure where the purple tang is from (redsea comes to mind). There was a big pile of sand behind the cucumber this morning. Very happy with the purchase.

I got a tiger tail cucumber from Woody about 6 months ago. It is HUGH! It has caused quite a little problem for me in my tank. It seems that the cucumber dosent want to TOTALLY leave the safety and security of the rocks. So...what it does is leave it's hind end in the rocks and just moves its head out to eat the sand from the front of the tank. So....I have hugh piles of sand, burying the live rock in the tank. Dont quite know what to do short of trying to remove it.

He did it all for the Dukie, the Dukie

I'm considering getting one for my system as well. That's an interesting experience you're having Dennis. So, you're getting a mound of clean sand inside your rockwork?

Ya...I keep trying to dig some of it back out but....its not working very well. I have had to add some sand to the front area twice so far. Pretty soon, I'll have a dsb!

Mine's poopless...

I have a pink/black one and it spends absolutely no time in the sand whatsoever. He climbed up the side of the tank on to the overflow. He covers about 3" of the "teeth" along the side of it. He's been there about a week, won't come down. Tried to pull him off, but he's firmly attached and I didn't want to hurt him. I wonder if he's constipated??

I picked up a sand sifter also, but it was bristle worm food the next morning. Woody said he had a couple die off out of the last batch. But I'm so happy with this guy, will probally just buy another cuke. He never sleeps just eats

Be very careful with him. I had one for a while and last week came home to a wiped out tank, found him stuck in a powerhead. When they die they WILL let off a toxin in the water. I am still trying to get my tank back in order. It was a very sad day.
