Question

Little White swirls on glass??

In the last couple of days I have noticed a ton of these little white swirls on the tank glass. when I look cloose it almost looks like a tiny tube worm or somthing. The bigggest one is mabie 1-2mm. I have tried to scrape them off but they dont seem to come off that easy. anyone know what they are?? or how to get rid of them?

Hey Cowboy,

Your girlfriend and yourself talked to Torie and I for awhile at the picnic. Hello again!

The white swirls you are talking about are most likely Snail Eggs. Do they seem to form a pattern such as a Snail would leave after eating some algae? Without a pic its kind of hard but this sounds to me like your Turbos or Cerith are laying eggs. Perfectly harmless and will probably become food for something in your tank otherwise youll have some more snails to deal with I suppose!

Well, if they have a hard covering then they are not eggs. Most eggs will come off the glass with fanning the water next to them. My guess would be fan worms. The can grow anywhere in your tank. If it is a spiral shaped pattern chances are it's some type of fan worm. HTH

Good call Dave, missed that part about them not coming off the glass easily. Get us a picture if you can Randy.

This Johnny-come lately is also thinking Spirorbid polychaetes.
As already mentioned, those little gremlins make white, calcareous, spiral tubes.

"Swirls" could easily mean something else.
