Question

HELP! Weird Creature ID Needed! (Please)

OK - just spotted this little guy coming out from between 2 rocks. He is squirting some kind of white cloudy stuff into the water every few seconds. I tried to lift him out and he retracted under some sort of shell and was VERY stuck to the rock so I couldn't remove him. Is this a BAD guy? or ok?

If it seems to hurt anything than just take the rock out that its attached to and let it suffocate. But I have no idea what that thing is. And if you think about it, that white stuff its spraying out is probably not good.(chances are slim to get a creature that will spray white stuff out of it that will do wonders for your tank, its probably some sort of defense or poison to scare things away!)

The "white stuff" is either eggs or sperm. It's actually good food for your corals.

I have one just like that, well according to the way I see the pic. I didn't even know I had it untill one day I saw a white cloud. At first I thought my snails were spawning, they occasionally do and it looked the same, then I saw the creature and realized it wasn't anything I put in the tank. The shell is irradescent and as best I could tell it is a type of abalone. Do a search for abalones and compare, I am almost certain that is what I have, and it looks just like that...

Stomatelli Varia.. It's a type of snail, Indo Pacific Sea farm sells them as "sea bunnies". The white stream was the snail spawning, which means you will have more of them. They are good clean up crew, they eat algae off of everything...
