My last boss bought one for his tank. I would love to get one myself, but need more room. They don't take up much space, but I am running out of room in my tank. I want my tank to look nice, without looking cluttered. Oh well, maybe when I get spare cash I will get one. heh heh

They are quite beautiful, but unfortunately they are tough to keep and often starve to death in a captive enviorment.

They are real diggers, too! Mine constantly blew sandstorms and excavated a 8" dia. hole in the sandbed. They also don't like to stay where you put them and will end up in the back under the rocks where you may never see them again.

I currently have one. DT's keeps it alive, but it stays under a ledge behind the rock. Have to contort the neck to catch a glimpse But well worth the neck strain, very cool looking.

I had a flame scallop for 18 months. I would target feed him DT's and blender mush every other day. Sometimes I would take him out and put him in a bowl and drop in some DT's and let him filter it out for about 5 mintues and then put him back in the tank.

He moved around a bit and preferd a spot under a ledge, they are not lovers of light. They will kick up some sand and stuff and might even put themselves in a spot in your tank that will iritate you.

I lost mine to overheating in my tank. I probably wont get another one. But he was nice while I had him.
They take alot of time and care. So if you are not willing to put in the extra time to feed him, dont get him.
