Cone or Cowrie

Can anyone help me to identify the little critter in the attached picture? I think he came on on some sea grass. He will hide in the gravel and come out when food is placed into the tank. The interesting thing is that when he has found some food he will wrap his tail around it. Then he will take off at high speed to a safe spot to eat it, either on top of a rock or he will bury himself in the sand again. Sounds like a cone snail to me so I have been very careful around him. He has not bothered any of the other creatures in the tank so I have just been watching him.

Oops... I meant to say Florida conch... I have queen conch's and the shell shape is a little different.
Have you noticed if it's been feeding on algae at all? Usually that's a dead giveaway that it's in the conch species.

I have not seen it feeding on algae, just on brine shrimp pellets. Other than that it does move pretty fast around the aquarium - like it was on the way to some party or something!

It's neither. LOL But I forgot the name of that one so I've kept my mouth shut. Cowries don't eat meat.

So it's a cute little meat eating snail.

Spanky, I like your answer!

Next question - Is this little guy able to dart you with a mind-numbing, bank account draining, super cosmic, neuro-toxin?

Definatly some type of conch. That is how my queen eats.
