Just got a colt coral...

After getting it in the tank it sits there for a while and then bends itself over, like its trying too get out of the light, I have 64 watts of lighting from PC, 32 watts at 10,000 and 32 watts at 20,000 in a 10 gallon.

The lights at the LFS are way weaker than mine. could it just be shock?

Colts can react like that to moving to a new tank and may need some time to adjust. They are not as moody as some of the other soft corals like toadstools, but may go into a funk for a while then snap out of it. Further complicating the whole matter is the loose way common names are tossed about. Colt is generally meant for the Cladelia genus, but in the trade any of several similar looking corals can be labeled as whatever strikes someones fancy. Good luck with your new coral

I hate using common names for corals. This coral was referred to as a colt when it was given to me. I don't think it's a Cladelia but I don't know what it is. Any suggestions?

(BTW. This is my prop tank so excuse the cord and the water spots on the glass)

that is the exact same coral as my "Colt"; color, polyps, stalk build are all the same. Have you had successful props with it yet? Same prop routine as Colts?

ph is a little high. You need to take alkalinity and phosphate readings also.
