Placement of a bubble coral?
So, do they like a lot or a little flow? They have large sweeper tentecles, anybody know the approximate full length when extended at night? Do they like the sand, that would be the best place for mine.

I am certainly no authority on bubbles, but mine liked moderate current, just enough to make the bubbles kinda wiggle, and the tentacles would sweep back and forth pretty good in the breeze, mines tentacles were about 2 inches long, and I had it high up in the rockwork cause I had crappy lighting then ! It did very well for 2 years like this, but a power outage for 8 days killed it..

They like gentle current (won't expand if it's too strong) and medium light. With my bubble, it's the whole coral that reaches out... tentacles are very short, as you can see in this pic.

Ditto on what cat said...
i now fed mine (the little pig) 2 -3 times a week. he loves frozen plankton and squid. i would say it is 2x the size since cat was TOM...
mine is in the lower part of the tank and in a medium ( iquess) flow the tentacile on mine are short and move gently in the water.. i love the way it looks when he spreads way out like it is streching then make a bunch of small bulles then big bubbles...
mine was the size of a golf ball when i got it now maybe a softball or a little bigger...

Tims is right about the feeding... These guys are pigs. I feed mine a couple of times a week - not too much since mine is now about 10 inches across (started out 3 years ago at about 3") and is already outgrowing the tank. I feed bits of squid, shrimp, larger mysis but I bet they'll eat anything.

same for mine, medium flow, if it has too much flow it will not open up. I have mine in the rockwork, but I have seen them on the sandbed.
Mine also eats like a pig! I feed it krill, 2 times a week.
Good luck with yours!! I love mine, I have a smaller one, that is starting to get big, with feedings of krill

don't put anyting close to this baby it will sting them to death. Don't let the short tenacles on the bubbles fool you. They send out long sweeper tenacles up to 7 inches long that will sting your other corals. Mine nearly killed my donut coral that was 4 inches from it. They like medium water flow and like the bottom of the tank. They are beautiful when they are extended but deadly to other corals, they are highly agressive.

Cool! Awesome responses! That's beautiul Cat, i agree, it has grown! Yeah, i think mine's in too much flow, since his tentecles are more extended than the bubbles, but im pretty sure he's healthy. Do you all just get seafood like squid from say Giant, cut it up and feed it to him. Also, how light tolerant? Like under 175 Mhs on the sand or 250s?

That's very interesting, I 've never seen sweepers that long on my bubble. I do see about 4-5 inch sweepers on my hammer, though.

Cat, any ideas about the food or light? Instead of " bubble corals" they should be "knights in shining bubbles corals"

As you can see from the pic, the bubble is pretty close to the top of the tank. It's under 2 65w p.c. bulbs. I expect it would need to be on the sand under M.H. You'll know because they'll over-stretch towards the light if it's not bright enough.
I think they'll eat anything raw from the seafood section at the grocery store, as well as frozen fishy food.
Did you buy one? Have you got a pic?

I feed mine because it gets bigger that way. It seems to do much better when I feed, too.
I usually feed my bubble coral, modern coral, disc coral, and hammer coral. The maroon clowns take care of feeding the anemones.
