Pink plate ques.

Just bought a Pink plate yesterday, and when I turned on my light today the plate released what looked like smoke

Is this normal and why does it do this?

Thanks,
Rich

I am not sure what yours discharged but it sounds like it was releasing sperm or eggs. When they reproduce they seem to release "smoke".

Probably a stress response, broadcast-releasing male gametes:

The pronounced shift in water chemistry (LFS to your tank), or temperature-difference maybe, or just the stress from transport, spooked it into thinking its number was up, triggering a (false) last-gasp attempt to perpetute its genes.
