sigh....bare bottoms and toadstools

Fungia get irritated if sand gets on them so if you had a lot of current (and blowing sand) in your tank before, that could be why it looks so good now, miami13. That and the phosphate levels are probably down.

Cut up 3 lbs of roundsteak into portion size pieces (or use mock tenders), dredge in flour seasoned with salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder. Fry the meat on medium-high heat until browned. Place in a dutch oven or large covered casserole and cover with 2 cans of mushroom soup and one can of milk. Add fresh sliced mushrooms and one small onion, sliced. Mix it up a little, cover and bake for 3 hours at 325. Serve with mashed potatoes and a spoon....you won't need a fork for the meat, it's so tender.

Where's Spanky??? He hasn't sniffed out a recipe thread yet?

And yes, Heather, they really do move.

As long as I had to post again here's what's for dinner tonight: beef brisket smothered in lots of BBQ sauce wrapped up in foil and baked in the oven most of the day. Remove from foil, shred with fork and eat on kaiser rolls with slices of red onion, extra sharp cheddar and coleslaw on top.

I just want to know why she's taking pictures of it......

Sounds kind of...perverted to me......

I mean, how long did she have to watch to finally see it,and did she have the camera set the first time she saw it?

Or was this a multiple-day project involving hundreds of extras, fancy "toad" lighting and make-up,and professional stunt toads.

And was there a "tool" double.......

The mind boggles......

Oh, and for you Fungia lovers out there, if one of yours ever dies, don't throw the skeleton away. Leave it in the tank and it will grow new bud-babies.

Alice, I just ate (italian sausage with mushroom alfredo on egg noodles with a tossed salad) but your BBQ makes my mouth water anyway!

I see I'm not the only one with a gutter mind tonight. No photos have been taken of my 'mind boggling' toadie! He is slightly indisposed at the moment as he has been waxing and has only just begun to shed and reopen his polyps, so, even if I took a pic of it now, he would not look the same! Mr. toadie recently underwent a circumcision of his excess for fragging and is still recovering. Should have seen my Mums' face when she caught sight of my sexy sarcho

Alice, how do the fungias move? Do they slide their bottoms along like anemones? Or is some other part involved?

You know, I wasn’t sure how they move so I looked it up The following is from Eric Borneman’s “Aquarium Corals”:
Fungia are capable of considerable movement through systematic tissue inflation/deflation and are phototaxic – they move toward light. Short-distance migration is possible – up to 12” per day – and they can climb up a slope of 30 degrees.

As for the babies, if the coral skeleton still has some tissue left (and it doesn't need to be much, you may not be able to see it), it can "regenerate" clones by recalcification. Kewl, uh?

Let me see if I can find a pic.

Ok, I've been trying to post this pic for a half hour, but puter keeps freezing up. Here's the link to a pic of daughter fungia (anthocauli) in Mark Haaga's tank:\
fungia babies

Well, I hope this link goes through anyway...sheeeesh, you'd think those people over there thought they were the only ones on the internet!

Go to Mark Haaga's tank of the month (October?) and scan about 3/4 down.
