Frag the frogspawn question!

I have a frogspawn that started with 7 ot 8 heads... it now has 12! If I were to frag it.... when should I and how do I do this?

P.S. It is my fave piece in the tank so whatever I do.. I don't want to kill it!

First you need to get prepared: a dremel with a cut off disc or rotory saw attachment works great and causes little trauma. If lacking this then a good pair of side cutters will have to do. a bowl of tank water big enough to place the frogspawn in after the cutting for rinsing off.

Before you take it out of the water, you want the polyps to retrack, wave you hand making a little wave near the polyps to make them retract. Once they are in you can take it out and look for a good spot. Some where at the bottom of the branch is where you want to cut. AT the "V". This is where the dremel comes in handy.

Good info, here's a twist. My frogspawn is attached to a piece or LR, probably 15 lbs. How do you suggest going about fragging this as taking the frogspawn out of the tank to frag is really not an option.

Use a flex shaft for the dremmel and make a mess in your tank instead of out of it.

use a pair of wire cutters on the skeleton, you shouldn't be cutting coenenchyme anyway on lps unless absolutely necessary.

Make the polyps retract so you can see what you are doing and snap a branch or two off with your hands. They will break easily at a V.

Hey Folks... thanks for all the suggestions. I'll be sure to put some if not most of them to use when I finally get the courage to actually frag my frogspwan!
