Bubble coral

Found this "prize" at the LFS. They get bubble corals in periodically, some of them get sold right away, some of them stick around and usually don't do well. This one was one of the ones that did not do well. It ended up being a skeleton that they left in a multi tier display so anenomies could use it to attach to and such. Well yesterday I went by there, it's thier day to recieve new shipments, and was checking out anything new they had and I spotted this little white spot on the skeleton. As I looked at it I realized it was a new bubble coral starting to grow on the old skeleton. It also looks like there are a few more white spots (too small to tell what they are) on other parts of the skeleton on the "fins" on top. Maybe I'll get lucky and there will be more babies. The one that is large enough to see (size of a round pin head) looks just like a miniature coral (like I expected it to look like something else)...

Here's another pic. That white spot in the background looks like it might become another coral (keeping my fingers crossed). There are a few other spots like that one but even smaller yet. Is this common for these type of corals to die off then reproduce new "babies"? This one was "dead" for a few months before this little guy showed up.

Here's one of the skeleton head, can't really see the coral, other than a white spot, due to light reflection... The skeleton head is about 1" x 2" to give you a size reference.

I think it is so that they can make Groucho Marks faces... He'd have a cigar but I wouldn't loan him a lighter...

Actually, I remember talking with Tom Wyatt, and he mentioned that its not uncommon for LPS to regrow after a while, thats why he doesnt recommend tossing corals that have died back
