They are a very difficult species to keep thriving in a closed system. If you are going to try I would highly suggest the red color variation ones as they are supposed to be quite a bit hardier than the green ones.

please do not buy flowerpot corals, they do not survive for very long in aquariums. I had one looked great for about 6 months then for no reason bam melted and died. This is generally the cycle of flowerpots, they look like they are doing well then bam they die.

yep, Goniopora are one of those corals that we do not have a clue what they need to survive long term.

i have a nice 24 stalk flower pot. the green one. doing very well so far..i do feed it reef gold. which is close to your coral vital... I know they can be a problem child but the price ( free) was good to go...it is now starting to spread to my LR so i think it is doing ok so far. , my clown loves it and so does my foxface. the foxface sleps in it!! it is under heavy flow , maybe that has something to do with it, also close to the top of the tank so it gets a lot of light...

please research alveapora and goniapora and you'll see what Tim is talking about... the alveapora is hardier and has been kept.

yupp that 's a nice one once it opens... perhaps i mis spoke when saying stalks maybe peddels would be better?.
has it opened up yet? is there really good flow on it? they love to sway back and forth..

how are you levels now in the tank? i know you had said you had some problems not to long ago..

if you get a chance i would pick up some good id and info books if you don't have then already...

i think the gonipora. is almost too hard to keep in a tank.. the alvepora is a hard one but better to try if you are going down the road that way..
