Pam,
They are beautiful! The obvious question is: what's your secret?
I have always wanted some but have stayed away because I have been told they are almost impossible to keep.

Those are beautiful! I love the way they open up at dinner time.

Great Looking Sun Corals Pam
I always thought that they looked cool However as Geoff stated I also know my limitations.
And to be able to make them talk! I believe that's a Women's thing! Check out Susan Wilson's web site AKA Flame Angel click on the little sun coral at the bottom of the page where it says I have somethine to say.

Rick,
My sump room is a mess. Maybe I can take pictures later after I clean it up. I'll put that on my list of things to do.
Have you ever heard about or seen an SPS called an Efflo? I purchased one the other day as a Montipora (I new it wasn't) for $40. I've been researching and I think I've come across a prize.
I've only had it a week so I'm not sure what the final color will be but it's kinda dark with green plolyps. What do you know about them?
Pam

Does it look like this? I posted this pic when I first got this coral and no one thought it was an acro but seeing the way it has grown since I'm thinking it is. Actually I don't know too much about it. It has an interesting growth pattern. Mine has gone through a considerable color change. It's tan with a purple edge and green polyps.

Rick,
Mine is completely round like a saucer and has bigger bumps. Yours has better colors than mine does right now but I'm thinking it may change. I had it up high in my tank and the outside rim started turning white so I started researching. Come to find out it doesn't require lots of light so I moved it to the bottom and now it's coloring back up. Does yours have lots of polyps? If so, during the day or night? How long have you had yours?

i have found that both the A. solitaryensis and A. efflorescens look very similar. the A. solitaryensis seems to branch apart at the ends then grows together. but they both seem to end up with the same plate type look. all the pics i found on them show larger polyps than the frag that you have Rick, but that large polyp in the middle sure looks Acro. to me also.
also from what i have read. these are difficult to keep detritus from building up on the disk. so strong currents are a must. lighting on the other hand does not seem to be as important since they seem to be more of a deep water coral.
sorry for the hijack Pam.

This coral looks quite different now. I've had it for several months, the pic above was when I first got it. It branches at the edges then the branches grow together. The polyps only come out at night but they are big polyps like an acro. I'll try to get a pic of it tonight.
