SPS vs. my Leather Coral

OK here is my dilema, I have sold almost all my soft corals in preperation for receiving an SPS shipment next week. I have a small patch of green stars a few shrooms and a Leather coral left. My clownfish host in my Leather coral which is about 9" high and has a crown that is about 8" across. Should I get rid of the leather in fear of it battling with the newly added SPS???? I hate to get rid of it, but if it has to go it will go. Thanks for the help!

Karsco that is a tough call. In my experence leathers will slime if they feel they are being intruded on. I have a sps dominate tank but like you could not get rid of a real nice leather I had. What I do is to introduce the SPS further away from they leather and then gradually over time move them a little closer. I believe the fluids emmited by various corals sparks the battles, but once they get used to this scent (bad word but I am tired) they dont not go into battle mode.

I would not keep a leather with sps. The toxins exreted by the leather will harm or hinder it's growth.

Thanks guys, I just get a little worried spending some serious cash on a bunch of SPS frags to have them do badly. I will keep it for now and see how it goes.
