Question

Exposing corals during water change

When I perform a water change, I usually pull most of the water from the sump and a little from the main tank because I'm concerned about exposing the corals that are mounted high in the tank. Don't tell me you guys move these corals everytime you do a water change. I would like to do a more significant water change directly from the main tank. Is it ok to temporarily(5-10min.) expose the corals?

Thanks,

Sean

IMO some of these corals are exposed at low tide anyways o it shouldnt be a big deal. I wouldwatch the LPS corals so they are not all the wat inflated when water goes down so as not to cut the coral on the sharp sketeton (sp) but other than that lights off or on low and you should be fine

Thumbs up

Thanks for the advice. I'll give it a shot. Mostly SPS towards the top. I'll wait till the lights go out to do the water change.

I accidentially exposed two acros for about seven hours (no lights). They came through just fine.

Don't try this at home.
