Acro tips gone slightly white?

Acro tips gone slightly white?

A few days ago the tips of one of my acros went white but only on a few of the branches:

sorry about picture quality.

it has stopped going white, as i had lowered the lights about 3" and have raised them back up again and this was the only one that showed signs of change. Is this bleaching or is it the coral changeing colour (i already think i know the answer) but the polyps are still showing good extension and look happy. Is there anything i should do?

Its quite weird as i frag i took of it which i placed in a higher position showed no sighns of change?

I think it's growth also... I thought mine was going south when I happened to notice. But upon closer inspection, it had grown larger.

the light is a 250 watt metal halide which is 14k, it also has two 18 watt actinics in it. it is 12" above the water surface and i had lowered it to 8". the acro is about 15" below the surface. its a 100 gal tank.

its the coral infron of the leather it has stayed in this position although i have done so reaquascaping.

I think you could move the light down. I don't usually like unbalanced light, but that's just darn cool!

looks like some new growth to me!

different species and even different frags of the same species seem to have different growth rates. i have a green acro that has barely grown in a year what another acro has grown in 4 month's!

just one of those things.

While on the topic of acros and their color.. I was given a purple acro. I have noticed that my acro has turned more brown in color, and the only thing still purple are the tips. (The coral is growing) Is there something I can do to help restore the acro to purple? I have a 75g, 2-250W MH, and it is half way up in the tank. Thanks.

Pomme...I love that little frag pic!
