Help I think my coral has a disease!(pic)


Can anyone identify what it is? or better yet, how to get rid of it?

is that brown jelly? I think it is a protozoan infection...I'm not really that experienced...I've never really fought with that before

Does it brush off? It looks like it was forming a slime coat and then collected gunk from within the tank. Personally, I would if you can, take the rock out, wipe off what you can, give it a quick FW dip. Put it back in the tank, add a little Iodine to the tank, and aim a powerhead close to it. (not right on it, that will stress the coral out to much). This is just my 2 cents.

brown stuff


i believe some majority of all spiecies of leather goes thru stages of stuff like that in your pic either when introduced to a new tank from the store or the i guess you can call hibernation stage, where the leather coral seems to be crashing looking ugly with a slime over, then when that stage is over, it blooms out again, as long as you don;t see at the bottom of the stalk where you see tissue breaking down, like holes. i have had many different types of leathers that have that type of slime or colorization but only to come back even most beautiful, correct if i might be off.
