Dying Frogspawn

My frogspawn is wasting away. I have a 45g tank, I increased the light about 2 months ago, but only to 2 96 watt power compact bulbs. My hammer coral, Xenia, Tree Coral, and star polyps are all thriving. The frogspawn is dying branch by branch. It all started when one branch got like a bubble in the middle and now the other ones are wilting too. The other ones didn't get the bubble. Two out of 6 parts are now dead. Has anything like this happened to anyone else? Is there anything I can do? I just did a 5g water change today.

Thanks,
Megan

Megan pull the frogspawn and frag the dieing/dead heads from the rest of the coral. Then give the rest of the coral a lugols/iodine dip, I believe that with lugols it's 10 drops to a gallon and with regular iodine it's 20 drops to a gallon, let the coral in the solution for a minute or so. You can also do a search for "iodine dip" or "lugols dip" and I'm sure you'll get plenty of threads you can read to find out more about the dip.

There are any number of reasons it could be having problems. My torch coral has gotten bubbles like you sre describing and after a time they went away and the torch was no worse for the wear. Are they just dieing off and receding or are they melting and sort of turning to a brown jelly like substance?

I'm sorry to hear that Megan. I've seen them do that and sometimes you just can't stop it, even with dipping and fragging.

Not good, my torch is doing the same thing. Two stems have melted away today.
