Ca reactor

Hey Andy

Recieved the reactor, everything looks to be quality construction. Seems as if the pump sizes are too large though. The MAG 2 recirculator kicks the top of the ARM around quite a bit, so there must be a hell of a flow through the column, and the little giant seems awful powerful for the drip of effluent that is coming out.
I also got the pH controller. Any suggestions on the best way to install that. Use it to measure pH of the tank/sump water or of effluent from the reactor only? If so, drop the effluent into some container that catches it so the pH can be monitored that way?

Hey Sorry I just got this post...I have been out of town

The MAG 2 is what you want...the mix of media doesn't harm anything and it actually helps keep the media mixed for a better CO2 mix. Use the contoller to check the tank water for the control part and when you want to test the reactor effluent, have the effluent drip into a cup and test the cup water....

One last question. Seems the pH controller circuit is normally open (no power) so only if it is in alarm mode does the circuit close and provide power to the solenoid on the regulator. Seems this would not protect agains low pH if you overdosed CO2. Am I hooking it up wrong? Maybe it's in the instructions, but I couldn't find it.
