Porcelain Crab reproduction

Have they been successfully breed in captivity? I have two purple ones with dark purple spots. I have no idea where they came from. When I first noticed them they were about 3/8 of an inch across. Now they are full grown. When I got home today the female was releasing her young. The male is about an inch and a half down stream from her and he's eating as many of the larvae as he can. If they have been successfully breed in captivity then I will just leave them in the tank. If not, then I will set up a new system and try to raise the larvae.

I've had such creatures appear out of nowhere too. It's possible they're breeding but it's also possible that they hitchhiked on your rock and are now just being exposed.

I know the ones I have are just hitch hikers. I'm thinking about trying to raise the larvae they are producing now. Well, the next batch they produce anyway. Can it be done?

Hmm, I don't see why not.. but you may have to experiment on it a bit. I'd look into what it takes to raise peppermint shrimp, you may have some success with that method.

I've recently added one to my tank, and I find it quite entertaining to watch. Do you have any pictures of the larvae?
