Thanks and here is a little "condensed" info below. For a little more detailed info you could read the brief note here >>> http://www.netglimse.com/holidays/ca...nada_day.shtml
Canada Day marks the creation of the Dominion of Canada in 1867, the beginning of a united country.
| | |
| | | The July 1 holiday was established by statute in 1879, under the name Dominion Day.
On October 27, 1982, July 1st which was known as "Dominion Day" became "Canada Day".

I used to be on submarines and we parked at Nanaimo BC and it was the custom to never let a foreign visitor leave without a proper sendoff. They had a torpedo tube filled with ice and beer on that little destroyer. No idea who Canada will ever go to war with but I would reenlist for that. Those were probably the most polite and nice folks I ever met. It was Canada Day and just happened to walk past the right gangplank at the right time
Canada Day is a great holiday!!!!!

Howzitgoin, eh?
Happy Canada Day backatcha!!!
Ah ... memories of being on Parliament Hill... with 300,000 other people, DRENCHED to watch the fireworks!! Why did it always rain when I chose to attend the festivities?
Another year I worked at the Rideau Center (about a block from Parliament Hill) ... worked for Mr. Submarine... we sold 1000 subs that day. I earned my pay that day!
And one year I had to work in an office building downtown til 11:00 PM and somebody set the dumpster behind our building on fire... that was exciting! I was amazed that the fire trucks got through the crowds to put it out. Shortly after I left we saw the same fire company dousing a chip wagon that had caught fire...
Ah... nostalgia Times like this I miss Ottawa...

LOL! "Southern" hubby bugs me about "Eh?" all the time, even though I don't say it except on the rare occassion. But that reminds me of a cute little thing I received by email the other day >>>>>
What's the difference between a northern fairytale and a southern fairytale?
A northern fairytale begins "Once upon a time..." -A southern fairytale begins "Y'all ain't gonna believe this.... "

Thank-you! I am going to cellibrate by laying around the house most of the day, then going out and picking up a used PH controller for $75. Sounds like a great day eh?
