Question

Bad reception

Hi all!

We don't have cable tv hook-up and our TV reception has been horrible as of late. Well...my husband Steve kept saying "It's your tank lights" and I kept saying "no" because we had never had a problem with them causing interference before. So he ran the process of elimination and yes it was the lights I then remembered that the problem did kinda start after I wired a new lighting harness when I changed out my lights

So-o, I know there's a device that you can pick up at Radio Shack that will take care of the interference but I can't remember what the heck it is. Anybody know?

Thanks!

~Alice

BTW, the tank is on it's own circuit breaker

Hi Alice,
I have the same problem you have. When ever the tank lights are on I get interference of the cable signal.
To solve that, you could try a cable amplifier. Radio Shack has some, try going here to get an idea: http://www.radioshack.com/category.a...4%5F000&Page=1
If anybody has something better, please post because I need to know too!

A power line filter ought to help. There is probably some feedback noise from the light balast back into the powerline. Basically this is just a box that you plug in between your electronic equipment and your power outlet that has a bunch of pasive components (capacitors, resitors and the like) that filters noise out of the power signal. You should be able to get this at your local radioshack. It might also be called a "conditioner". They come in flavors from very inexpensive (like GE makes a powerstrip version for about $15 that I saw in the hardware section of my grocery store), to the extreemly expensive (>$1000) ment for high end audio/visual equpment.

Alinraz is right. Go for the power cond/filter. I avoided this problem by wiring my lights to an independent breaker...but yours IS on it's own which is weird.

Hope the filter works!! Good luck!

Question

Hey! While we're on this topic, would the cond/filter be the device that I would need to correct the problem of power clicking on and off on my amplifier? Nothing else at my entertainment center does that song and dance Boy, is that annoying!
