24 Hours Of Survival!!

Yesterday afternoon, we put a Coral-Banded Shrimp into the tank with Spotty, the baby Chainlink Moray, as a flashy companion. So far, neither has made any attempt to bother the other.
Chainlinks, Echidna catenata, are primarily crustacean-eaters but reading and research indicated that they do tolerate cleaner shrimp, at least in the wild reefs!

We chose a CB because we've always wanted one but would have been incompatible with the critters in the 55 reef and, besides, they are much cheaper than Scarlet Cleaners!!
We will keep you posted as the situation progresses.

Hey have fun with the CBS, I sure do! Except he really makes me angry sometimes, attacking me and all. Anyway, mine is huge and whenever my hand is in the tank he comes up and pinches me. AND DARN IT IT HURTS!!!! Oh well, they sure are pretty!

Neat! I'm glad that Spotty and CB are getting a long so far. Maybe you shouldn't feed Spotty shrimp; it might make him mistake the smell of CB with the smell of dinner!

Drew; Dick won't have to worry much about the CB pinching him...he won't be in the tank much except for routine maintanence. Spotty is one of those Morays that don't see real well, he hunts by smell and you don't want him mistaking your fingers for dinner!

LOL...a board I used to frequent had a member with the signature line "feel the pain of the mighty coral banded shrimp!" Mybe that's what he meant!
