Pics of My New Corals

I received the shipment from Scott (skey44) yesterday, March 5, and could not be happier with what I got. I wanted to share a couple of pictures so you all could see them as well.

This is the new bi-color Ricordia. As you can see it is already open and doing great in the tank. I am hoping it will reproduce and give my other ones a run for their money.

He also sent this piece of Montipora Digitata. When it arrived it was very pink and my wife really liked it; however, Scott said that in his tank it is very orange. As you can see it now looks kind of peach colored so it seems that the orange is making a comeback. I think it is a cool frag regardless of what color it ends up being.

Oh yeah, for those that want to know what Cyanobacteria (Red Slime) looks like, this picture will definitely let you know. The camera makes it look worse than it does to the naked eye, but has me convinced that I need to switch out my sand bed. I vacuum it on Sunday and it looks like this on Thursday.

I hope you all like the pictures as much as I like the new corals.

Thanks a bunch Scott!

Great looking additions! You might want to put that montipora a bit higher in the tank to get more light and to get it off the sandbed (the frag can soak up phosphate from the sandbed).

Yeah, I am going to move it a little higher tomorrow. It is on a frag plug, and that is not fully seated in the sand, it just looks that way from the pic.

I actually have 6 words that come to mind: build rock lifts - buy new sand. Then I will probably look into a fish like you have as I think it is really cool and it won't hurt much with the rocks lifted.

oh BTW... i think i have in mind what i am going to do with the 29 gal... species tank... i will need lots of Rics and only 1 fish... Traci's Clown that's now in the QT

How much lighting to Rics need anyway... i'm thinking a modded standard hood and strip light with some DIY LED lighting may do the trick

I am not sure how much lighting they "need" Tony as I am hoping not to turn this one brown like my others. The good news is my blue one is higher in the tank than this new one and it is still blue for now so there is definitely hope.

I knew you would like the Digi, but it appears that you may come over to the "soft" side with the 29. Right now I wouldn't mind filling another tank with all Rics either. I will give you whatever I can to get you started.

Glad it worked out. I have a few more so i'm perfectly happy to pass it along as well as the digitata-if i wouldn't frag that one i think it would grow out of the tank...

I am sure Tony will be hitting you up very soon, if he hasn't sent you a PM already.

By the way, what lighting did you have the Digitata under? I want to move it higher, but I don't want to do it too quickly and brown it out.
